Id still stop it from crashing into the water when zig fishing then let go of the spool I always want the bait/popup to be away from the lead on impact

What about when using a zig rig/adjustable zig? I was told to let go so the lead goes down and it keeps the hook away, tangle free.

No matter the rig i personally would feather it down apart from a chod rig as i want the hookbait to fly up the leader/line then settle down, Rob Huges
