The question is do you really need backleads!?
I only use them if I really have to as my line sinks like a brick anyways!

If you do Yim, pop into the shop, get yourself a pack of 6 solar backlead clips (£2ish) an buy the 50p leads off the lead stand, theres two sizes ;)

If you really want too, you could buy some olivettes off the same stand to help pin your tackle down even more!

No point wasting your hard earned cash on those mate imo :)

Hope that helps

To be honest I'm a little unsure about the whole part after casting. I cast out then pop on a back lead and tighten up a little bit while its on the pod till it sets the bobbin right. I know this is probably the wrong way to do it and your all thinking god what a d**k ha ha but - don't really know the proper way to do it. All these magazines show you the latest tricks and rigs etc but never show you the basics for dumbasses like me.

imo there is no definative right or wrong.

i cast out, gather the worst of any slack, reach to my rod tip, hold the line and clip on a back lead, i sort of let it slide down till it hits the deck pop the rod on the rest few turns of the reel and then i let my hangers do the rest ??

tbh its a rare day i use a back lead anyway, and generally its only if im doubled up in a swim to help keep the number of lines down.

depends on the weatehr and mood with me.... if it's nice and im in a serious mood ill take my up most care in setting the abckleads so i feel everythings is right but for exampel if it's lashing it down i either tend to just not do them or clip em on then either slide them down whent he lines tightended. i know i shoudl always do it the first way but we always rush a certain part of it.

when using a back lead try and slide it out to the deepest part otherwise you will end up with the tightrope effect across the lake. I have also seen people tighten up to the lead, sink the line, clip on the back lead and them slacken off. This usually just leaves slack from the rod tip to the back lead. Best thing to do is experiment until you find a method that suits you and gives you confidence.

echo whats been said before the release clip was very tempremental to say the least, the Korda backleads are fantastic though now the new design on the clip means they only fall off if they get snagged.
