Steve Neville Alarms - The Long Term Review (5 Years On)

I have used a few alarms in my time,,in fact, most of them ! Herons, optonics, delkim conversions, AVA alarms, the BJ alarm, bamfords, fox rx digital, new delkims......STEVE NEVILLES.......!

Steve neville has been around quite some time now, i had heard about them a long time ago but never fancied using them as they where plain and gadget free!

Some of you may know, i am a bit of a gadget freak,,this is probably why i did not own steve neville alarms before, but after a run of problems with the new delkims and fox alarms i needed somthing reliable.

My Steve Neville's 5 Years Old

Well, what can i say, after 5 years of absolute trouble free use, in snow, frost, rain, wind, fog i can honestly say that i have only just this month changed the batteries, not becouse they have gone, but i felt the need to do so,,,just in case !

My alarms have a red run led, with a latching blue led that stays on for about 12 sec, and trust me they are bright led's !

The buzzer is loud enough to wake the dead, but with no volume control fitted (less to go wrong), the need of a bung ( i have got loads if you want to buy any for cheap ! ) inserted into the buzzer hole muffles it down by about 75%, hey presto a volume switch !

With no tone controls (why do you need them?), their is less to go wrong.

With no sensitivity controls, less to go wrong, but the roller head can be changed from a 2 magnet to 4 magnet to increase sensitivity (i leave the 4 magnet rollers in), and can be customised by choosing various colours from the MATRIX range or white/ black ptfe that comes fitted as standard.

There is a jackplug at the rear of the alarm so an extension box can be fitted, but also a transmitter system can be plugged into it, (eg. the attx system) giving you the ability to have the bivvy/ brolly set back away from the alarms, but still be able to hear them bleep and have a visual indication of the led.

So,  do you catch my drift here,,,there is less to go wrong on steve neville alarms, giving you a more trouble free session on the bankside.

All in all,, Steve Neville gets a big thumbs up from me for making such a good alarm, that not only looks good but works as it should.
